Butt Solution is an awareness campaign I developed for my thesis, shedding light on the environmental issues caused by cigarette butts. This campaign aims to inform and educate about the impact of discarded cigarette butts on the environment.
Cigarette butts hold the unfortunate distinction of being the most commonly littered items worldwide. Shockingly, they also top the list of items collected during coastal cleanup programs. What many don’t realize is that the majority of cigarette butts are composed of plastic. It is crucial to raise awareness among smokers about the health and environmental consequences associated with these discarded butts.
Butts are plastic
Did you know that over 90% of cigarette butts are actually made of plastic? Many people mistakenly believe that cigarette filters are composed of cotton, but in reality, they are made of a type of plastic called cellulose acetate. It’s essential to spread awareness about this fact and educate individuals about the environmental impact of these plastic filters. By understanding the true composition of cigarette butts, we can work towards finding sustainable solutions and promoting responsible disposal practices.

Butts can feel incredibly lonely when left scattered apart. However, as soon as they are gathered together in a proper bin, the real party begins. Take a moment during your walks to observe the multitude of heartbroken and isolated butts scattered on the ground. Let’s lend them a helping hand by reuniting them with their companions in the bin. Together, we can bring joy to these discarded butts and contribute to a cleaner and more harmonious environment.
